TED Tecnología, Entretenimiento, Diseño (en inglés: Technology, Entertainment, Design) es una organización sin fines de lucro dedicada a las "Ideas dignas de difundir" (del inglés: Ideas worth spreading).
TED Talks are in English because, historically almost every industrial process has been documented in the world's most popular second language. And of course we anglophones are linguistic imperialists.
No obstante, muchas veces existe transcritos en español, la idioma secundaria te EEUU. Full-screen (pantalla completa) son en subtítulos. Otro modo son texto completo con cada uno de los párrafos 'clic for clip' ( lookup table del inglés para acceso rápido algún sección del vídeo)
Cotec significa Fundación para la cooperación en innovación tecnológica, un iniciativa del rey Juan Carlos I en 1990 que hoy esta esta en Portugal para participar en el IX Encuentro COTEC Europa junto al jefe de Estado luso, Aníbal Cavaco Silva, y su homólogo italiano, Giorgio Napolitan, durante la que se debatirá sobre el proceso de "reindustrialización" que afrontan para recuperar el crecimiento económico y crear puestos de trabajos cualificados.
Having listened to many TED talks (mostly by foreigners whose first language is not English) - I think perhaps we could make a start right here!
Before retirement, my salable skills were to fix things – first mechanics and electronics, then systems, and finally human relationships. To do these I first had to answer some questions like these:
1. Do we really want to reindustrialze, a dangerous dare in which we risk loosing even the little we have? Or do we really prefer our safe, tried and tested policy do noting but complain – our sterile status quo?
2. Why precisely can we not repair/reuse/recycle our idle assets? Empty houses, abandoned factories and unemployed people? Might it be that we do not actually collect the data on what we have, who owns it, and why they can't sell the spaces, tools and skills they possess but can not use?
3. What can I do to 'stir the pot'? How risky is that? What do I have, what might I loose (money/time/reputation/freedom)?
4. What will people think? This is a crazy idea? It can not work because …? Sure, but as a certain smart Swiss scientist remarked - any idea that does not at first sound preposterous really has no chance of success!
5. So why should we not at least try – I am of the past – I possess merely some of the ancient industrial rubble in my head where once there were brains – but perhaps that could serve as a useful foundation for the future?
